Europe hosts outstanding centres with complementary analytical expertise and facilities for preclinical characterisation of Med-nanomaterials.
It is not possible to integrate many of them in EUNCL because it is considered as a “starting community”. However, we believe it is essential to keep a close connection with these analytical centres as we can mutually benefit from sharing of experience and this would contribute to structuring the European Research Area.
The satellite laboratories are located in Europe and have been selected based on their technological offer or expertise, beyond the expertise already available within EUNCL.
The involvement of satellite laboratories will enable EUNCL to adapt to the broad needs of the community on a case-by-case basis. Indeed, as nanomedicine is a complex field of research with diverse applications, routes of administration, and nanomaterial types, it is expected that some very unique expertise not covered by EU-NCL may be needed on a case-by-case basis.
In that event, EUNCL will facilitate the connection between the Med-NP developers and the satellite laboratories with the expertise necessary to address those specific analytical questions. Therefore, the structure of EUNCL is kept open and sufficiently flexible including the option for later access of new partners after the project’s runtime.
Application as a Satellite Lab to EUNCL is open. The capacity of the candidate to contribute to EUNCL objectives – delivery of routine, cost-effective and reliable analytical assays required by the regulation authorities - without duplicating the existing expertise will be evaluated before decision.
There is no funding between the Satellite Labs and EUNCL. The Satellite labs are invited to the annual EUNCL General Assemblies to keep the link active with the EUNCL consortium.
The Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (IESL-FORTH) was founded in 1983. It has since established its international presence in the areas of Laser Science, Micro/nano-electronics, Polymer Science, Materials Science and Astrophysics. Nowadays, IESL occupies a distinct position in the international scientific map in several of these fields.
Our team is composed of scientific experts specialized in cell biology, oncology, signal processing, data-driven modeling and nanotechnology. Since 2000, we have been participating to several French and European scientific projects in Computational Biology and Nanomedicine. Our ambition is to become a key player of the Big Data revolution in Pharmaceutical R&D.
The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory- INL is an Intergovernmental Organisation created to foster interdisciplinary research in Nanotechnology and Nanoscience. Aiming to become a vital part of Europe’s scientific area, INL provides a high-tech research environment addressing major challenges in nanomedicine, nanotechnology applied to environmental & food control nanoelectronics, and nanomachines and molecular manipulation at nanoscale.
SeroScience Ltd. (SRS) is a small/micro biotech enterprise (SME), spin-off company of Semmelweis University Medical School in Budapest, Hungary, founded in 2006 by medical scientists. It provides research services and regulatory testing for pharmaceutical companies in regards to the safety of drugs in R&D. Notably, SRS utilizes state-of-art in vitro technologies and large and small animal models for assessing the potential of drug candidates (most importantly intravenous drugs, biologicals, nanomedicines and contrast media) to cause hypersensitivity (allergic, pseudoallergic or infusion) reactions and other adverse immune effects, including antibody production (immunogenicity).
